There is truly nothing like seeing the bush from the back of an elephant - feeling the lolling rhythm of the biggest creature in the bush as he eats his way through a mopani bush and stops for a drink in the river. Learn about the habits and character of elephants, whilst also viewing other game from your great vantage point..

There are a few places that have made elephant back safari experiences available, but the best has to be in the Okovango Delta, Botswana. At Abu Camp, you are carried along in large, comfortable,

custom-made saddles into the Delta, on the most effective of all 4x4's. An elephant not only is able to cope in water and sand easily, but can also get really close to other game, which is generally unaware of the elevated human presence. It is a completely different type of game drive!

You can stay at a camp like this one, or you can arrange full or half day excursions. Elephant safaris are available in Zambia, near to Victoria Falls, Botswana and in South Africa at Kruger National Park.
